Jera, pronounced /yehr-ah/ is the Elder Futhark rune for "j" and the root of our word year, Jahr in German, ár/år in the Nordic languages. The runes, in addition to representing language, were also associated with magic and were inscribed in order to call upon that power. After all, Odin, the foremost of the Æsir gods, sacrificed himself to himself on the world tree Yggdrasil in order to gain knowledge of runes.
Jera is the Germanic rune for a good year or good harvest. Proudly sport jera and entreat the gods for a good, fruitful year!
