Do you hear the call of Odin? Perhaps it’s just the IKEA meatballs…Maybe the simple majesty of the deep-cut fjords and lonesome valleys. Whatever your reason(s), welcome to The Norse Among Us!

For us here at The Norse Among Us, our passion for all things Nordic, both medieval or modern, is at the heart of what we do.

This is why I got my Ph.D. in Scandinavian Studies. Having lived in Norway, grown up with stories of my ancestors, and learned the languages of the North, I wanted to dive deeper into all things Nordic and be able to spend my life sharing it with as many as would listen.

However, I had the realization that within academia my audience would be really rather narrow, being confined to the handful of others who share this interest on an academic level.

To quote the Little Mermaid (who is Danish by the way…thanks HCA!): I want[ed] more!

The Norse Among Us is born out of this desire to share all that we can about the Nordic with as many as possible! All products have meaning behind them and an accompanying story. With each item comes not only the confidence of something rooted in the rich culture of Northern Europe (and cool to boot!), but also, something that is a part of an expansive saga that has been built up over the last two millennia.

Alongside the store, our blog [COMING SOON!] continues this goal by looking at the meaning and impact of the many Nordic-inspired images and ideas found throughout our world today with everything from music and popular media to the words and ideas that have become ingrained as a natural part of our society and our everyday speech. We are surrounded by Nordic influence, saturated with it. Let’s discover what exactly it is and what makes it so potent!

So regardless of whatever stage your Ragnar-hair is grown out or whether you have ever even been to any of the Nordic countries, whoever you are or wherever you may roam…
